Word from the Head, Katie Hill

This week has been an exciting one with much variety in the children’s learning.  On Tuesday the whole of the Prep School were engaged in sporting fun.  Many of our Cerdic’s attended a Tag Rugby Development Day at Millfield Prep School, which they all thoroughly enjoyed.  Miss Taswell was impressed with the children’s focus and skill progression during the day.  Congratulations to Daisy H. and Robin B. who were chosen by the Millfield coaches as the Chard Prep School players of the day.  Meanwhile Wyndham and Harris enjoyed a Netball Development Day at Holyrood.  The children honed their netball skills and enjoyed demonstrating these in a match at the end of the day.  They were also treated to a dance workshop run by Kelly Leigh after they had enjoyed their lunch.  Congratulations to our Match Reporters whose reports can be read below.

Match report:

On Wednesday our Cross Country Running Team were excited to compete in the Stockland Races.  The conditions were tough with it being so wet underfoot, however our children competed brilliantly and Miss T was very proud of their performance.  We are eagerly awaiting their official results from the races.

Harris Class have been spreading joy around our school this week in sharing creations from their Mindfulness sessions.  The children have been learning the craft of origami and have made beautiful origami hearts, which they have proudly presented to individual staff.  Each staff member has been really touched by the children’s sentiments and impressed with their origami skills.  My heart is certainly taking pride of place in my Office Harris, thank you!

On Thursday the U9 Tag Rugby Team were excited to travel to St. Johns, Sidmouth for their fixture.  Sadly due to the torrential downpours the match was postponed last minute, however the two teams had lots of fun playing dodgeball in the St. John’s Sports Hall in the dry!

Thank you to our Student Council who have organised our Break The Rules Day today, we have all had such fun being a little bit naughty!  The playground was awash this morning with crazy hair and hats, funky clothes and toys galore.  The children tucked into unhealthy treats at break time and a number of school rules have been bent throughout the day!  It has been a day of fun whilst raising money for the development of our Playground Reading Shed.

We hope you all have a super half term holiday with your children next week.  When we return after half term the children will resume their weekly swimming sessions at Chard Leisure Centre on Wednesday afternoons and Mrs Orr-Ewing is holding our Mini Melody Makers session for Pre-School aged children and their families on the Thursday morning.
