The children had an exciting day on 6th October as they visited the Numatic Factory in Chard (home of Henry Vacuum Cleaner) and Chard Museum to support their learning this term on the topic of ‘Inventors and Inventions’. The children marvelled at the old fashioned early vacuum cleaners and enjoyed finding out how this everyday invention has changed and modernised over the years. They were fascinated to see the robots and different machines and tools on the manufacturing line and to learn how today’s cleaner is made from start to finish.
Next stop was Chard Museum where we were given a tour of the important inventions which our town is famous for including the birth of flight, the creation of prosthetic limbs and lace making.
Our thanks to Numatic and Chard Museum for welcoming us and giving us such a wonderful insight into inventions both new and old!
