It has been wonderful to welcome key worker children along with Reception, Year 1 and Year 6 back to school for the Summer Term. The children have settled wonderfully into their new routines and have embraced their learning with great enthusiasm!

Symes have been busy with their topic ‘Rainbows’. The children have completed a range of different activities including cotton bud rainbows, peg board patterns, pasta bracelets and letter writing practice. They have also had lots of fun in the outdoor learning area with building blocks, water play and number counting. As part of their topic ‘On Safari’ the children have been studying the book ‘Handa’s Surprise’ and have written a letter to ‘Akeyo’ from ‘Handa’. Symes are looking forward to learning more about the story!

The Pre-Prep group have settled into the new term and have been enjoying some outdoor learning. Last week they were Shape Detectives. The children had fun exploring the school to identify shapes in different places – they even managed to avoid all the rain showers!

In English our Prep students have been comparing the lyrics in David Bowie’s ‘Space Oddity’ with the text they are reading titled ‘Wonder’. They have been thinking about how the lyrics can match the feelings or behaviours of the main characters in the story. Mrs P. was impressed with their excellent work which showed brilliant understanding of texts and how words and phrases can be interpreted in so many different ways.

Great to see the classrooms busy once more!
