SUSTAINABLE FISHING WORKSHOP

SUSTAINABLE FISHING WORKSHOP

IMG_7622

On 17th June, the Juniors had a brilliant workshop with representatives from the Lyme Bay Fisheries and Conservation Reserve, who came to talk to them about sustainable fishing. In the session the children attempted to swim through nets, measured scallop shells and handled a live lobster! The children learnt all about the Lyme Bay Marine Reserve, which stretches from West Bay to Beer. They also saw a slide show and videos of the various creatures that lurk in the depths and how we can protect these species and sustain their populations for future generations. Our thanks to Lyme Bay Fisheries and Conservation Reserve for a very enjoyable and informative afternoon.
