Space Ambassador Visit

Space Ambassador Visit

IMG_7265

Last week Jo Richardson, our Space Ambassador, visited the school for the final time joined by astronomers Ron and Peter and their telescopes! Our focus was the sun: in the morning, the Juniors studied the life of a star, listened to presentations from Jo and Peter and then had a look at the real thing using the telescopes they had brought. They also made their own craft representations of the life cycle of a star. We were blessed with plenty of spells of sunshine and the children were very excited to see sun spots.

In the afternoon it was the turn of the Infants, who also had creative tasks and used prisms to split the sun’s light. Jo was so impressed with the level of enthusiasm and knowledge that the children showed and said that she’d very much miss coming along to Chard School ‘where the sun always shines’! Our special thanks to Jo for all the work she has done with us, it has been truly memorable.
