Message from the Head 26/06/2017

Dear Parents,

The tropical heatwave of the past couple of days has shown no sign of abating; as I write this I can scarcely believe that at last the thick walls of the school buildings are serving a purpose and keeping us cool!

The sun smiled down on us last Friday for the annual Pre-Prep Sports Day. It was lovely to see so many parents and family attending and cheering on the children. Everything ran like clockwork, thanks to Miss T, Mrs Downing, Mrs Snell and Mrs Lewis, and ice creams rounded off the day beautifully. Everyone had a lovely time, and we are now all looking forward to the Junior Sports Day which takes place this Friday afternoon over at Holyrood Academy. The gates will open here to parents at 1.15 for a prompt departure at 1.30 and, once again, Mrs Hill will be joining us to watch the fun. Please unsure your children have hats and sun cream on Friday, and if you want to take siblings to watch you will need to collect them at 1.15 and take them with you.

Yesterday afternoon we had a home fixture against Stockland, with the U11 rounders and cricket teams battling it out in the sun. Both teams did their best but did not enjoy the success of last week. Today we held our termly cake sale, this time run by the Cerdics in aid of the Chard Stroke Association.

Next week the Upper Cerdics are looking forward to their away day on Monday, we have the Pre-Prep trip to Seaton Jurassic on Tuesday, and a Junior Multisport fixture against St Christopher’s Staverton here at home on Wednesday. We have also started play rehearsals for the Junior play and Mrs Squires would very much appreciate hearing from any parents who would be kind enough to give up time on the days of the performances to come and help with dressing and make up. Mrs Squires has also requested that every child in Wyndham, Harris and the Cerdics should bring in a named coat hanger and named plastic bag for their costumes; if we could have those by the end of next week, 30 June, that would be a tremendous help.

Looking forward to seeing lots of you tomorrow at Sports Day.

Sarah Graham
