Old Boys to honour the fallen

FOR A SMALL SCHOOL CHARD LOST A DISPROPORTIONATE NUMBER OF YOUNG MEN, NOT ONLY DURING WW1 BUT ALSO IN WW2, MANY OF WHOM WERE FRESH OUT OF SCHOOL. THEIR NAMES ARE ENSHRINED IN PERPETUITY IN ROLLS OF HONOUR IN THE CHAPEL AT THE SCHOOL.

THIS YEAR A SPECIAL SERVICE LED BY THE HEAD OF SCHOOL, PAUL CAWLEY-WAKEFIELD SUPPORTED BY MEMBERS OF THE OLD CERDICS ASSOCIATION IS BEING HELD IN THE CHAPEL ON REMEMBRANCE DAY TUESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER TO MARK THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF THE OUT BREAK OF THE FIRST WORLD WAR.

PRIOR TO THE TWO MINUTES SILENCE AT 11.00am THE SCHOOL FLAG WILL BE FORMALLY LOWERED TO HALF MAST BY ONE OF THE PRESENT PUPILS. FORMER PRESIDENT OF THE OLD CERDICS ASSOCIATION, AIR COMMODORE NIGEL GRIFFITHS RAF (Retired) WILL READ OUT THE NAMES OF THE FALLEN DURING THE SERVICE THAT WILL INCLUDE FAMILIAR HYMNS AND POEMS READ BY THE PUPILS.

THERE IS AN OPEN INVITATION TO ALL FORMER PUPILS/OLD CERDICS, OF ALL AGES TO ATTEND THIS SERVICE IN HONOUR OF THEIR FOREBEARS
