Monday 7th October – Friday 11th October 2013

Message from the Friends:

At the end of last week, the Friends presented the School with 94 new books for the Junior Library.  These were paid for by the Friends and will make a valuable addition to the Library.  We hope to be able to make a similar donation to the Infant Library next year.

Our AGM is on Thursday 10th October at 7 pm.  If you are interested in becoming a Committee member, please forward your name to friends@chardschool.co.uk before Wednesday 9th October with the name of your proposer.  There is a significant time commitment in being a Committee member – meetings are held twice a term with additional meetings for larger fund raising events, the Committee are responsible for setting up and clearing up after events, and we assist in fund raising activities organised by the school such as the Scholastic Book Fair held last week.  If you feel you cannot give your full commitment, then we always need volunteers at all our fund raising events.  We hope to see you at the meeting.

Panto slips and cheques need to be returned before Monday 21 October.  Please forward them to the office as soon as possible.

If you know of anyone who would like to have a stall at the Christmas Fair, please contact friends@chardschool.co.uk.  We charge £15 for a table and any additional donation from the seller will be gratefully received!  Our sewing bees are obviously in hibernation!  Please let us know if you would like to join a small group to make decorations for the Fair.

Scholastic Book Fair:  Thank you so much to the Friends who organised a rota for the book Fair.  It certainly took the pressure off the School Office and the children seemed to be delighted with the choice of books.

Presentation of Books from the Friends to School: On Friday in Assembly, the Friends kindly presented the Junior Library with a wonderful selection of books.  Thank you for the fabulous selection of both non-fiction and fiction books.  They will be read and appreciated by many children.
