Monday 28th April – Friday 2nd May

Term is now in full swing so thank you to all the children, staff and parents for your patience.  The children have settled in brilliantly and the sun has shone!  We may have some minor teething problems over the next few weeks, so please continue to be patient as we bed down into the term.

Following feedback from staff and parents about the schedule for after school clubs, we’ve changed the timings starting Monday. Breakfast Club: 8.00-8.40 am. If you are dropping your child/children before 8.40 am, they must be registered at breakfast club. Children should not be left unsupervised at any time before school starts.

Junior Prep Club: 3.30-4.00pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in the Maths Room (old ICT suite). This session will be free of charge. You do not need to sign up for prep club in advance but all children must register with the duty staff on arrival. Activity Clubs: 3.30-4.30pm on the days set out below. Please sign up in the dining room for a half term. There is a charge for these clubs of £4.25 (Karate is £4.75 per session).  A charge will not be made for Inter-House Sport.  A free lunch time French Club will also be held on Thursdays for 20 minutes.

Monday – Art, Multi-Sport

Tuesday – 8am Running Club, no extra clubs after school, only after school club provision after swimming

Wednesday – Cricket, Butterfly Club

Thursday – French, Inter-House Sport (free of charge)

Friday – Girls’ Rounders, Karate After school club: 4.00-5.00pm in the old maths room. This will be charged for at £1.20 per 15 minutes if we have at least 4 children. If the numbers are less, we will have to increase the charge. We would like enough children to attend before school and after school clubs to cover the cost of providing them, so we need to know what provision children and parents want and need. We appreciate your feedback on the clubs and hope you like the new schedule.

Open Day is next Friday. Please come along with friends and family as we are planning an Open Day with a difference!

We intend asking parents to complete a survey about the school over half term, to allow us to learn more about what parents think about the school, including provision of before and after school clubs.

Message from the Friends

Dear Parents

It was great to see so many of you at coffee on Friday morning and to have a chance to catch up.

We’ve had our first Friends Committee Meeting for this term and we’re delighted to tell you that both Emma Brinklow and Eleanor Wentzell have very kindly agreed to come on the committee.

The second hand school uniform shop will be open on Monday 28th April from 8.50am to 9.20am. Please bring all your good quality school uniform to sell.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the Open Day next Friday when we will be serving teas, coffees and cakes.

The vegetable garden has been cleared and prepared in readiness for another season and the Nursery children are planning on growing a wide range of fruit and veg this summer. If you have any spare veg plants or seeds available then I know they would be very grateful – please hand them into the either Mrs Edginton or Mrs Sherman. They would also love to establish a sensory garden and would be grateful for any donations of herb or scented plants and also any large planters or tubs you have going spare.

We will be showing Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2 at our afternoon film show on Saturday 17th May at 2pm in The Chapel. Please sign up on the sheets on the noticeboard under the arch way.

We will have more information for you in the coming weeks about the Summer Fair on 7th June at 12 noon but we want to give you advance notice of a professional jewellery cleaner who has very kindly offered her services. So if you have any necklaces, bracelets, earrings, chains etc, that are in need of a new lease of life then please dig them out and bring them along on the day.

And lastly, thank you to all of you who very kindly made a donation to the staff leaving collection at the end of last term. We raised £475 which has been spent on John Lewis vouchers. We will be sending thank you cards to all the staff who have left and will enclose the gift vouchers along with an invitation to join us at the summer fair which we very much hope they will be able to attend. This will then give the children and parents an opportunity to thank them and wish them well with their future plans.

Do you have any unwanted traditional children’s board games that are in good condition that you would be willing to donate to the school? We are making up play boxes of games for each class to use when there is a wet weather break and would very much appreciate your help with this.
