Monday 18th – Friday 22nd November 2013

Message from the Friends:

We are delighted to announce that Bags2School raised £150 for the Friends.  Thank you for your donations.

As per my email, please register at http://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/ to help raise funds for the Friends as you do your online Christmas shopping.  It’s very easy but the only way of raising money is to access the companies you wish to purchase from via the easyfundraising website.  If you add the toolbar to your computer, you can add your favourite retailers to simplify the process or you can access them via the retailer part of the easyfundraising website.  Every company donates 1-2% of the cost of your purchase so please spread the word to family and friends.

Christmas Fair – 14 days to go….

Plates and raffle tickets have been sent home with the children and there is one plate per family.  We have 6 families who have yet to receive their plates and these will be sent out on Monday.  Please make sure you delve into the depths of book bags to retrieve your plate, raffle tickets and note on the event.

Raffle – star prize is a Kindle Fire HD, second prize is 3 month membership at Cricket St Thomas Leisure Centre.  The hamper prize list is on the notice board so please pledge your donations as soon as possible.  For the more expensive items, think about grouping together with other parents.  More raffle tickets can be purchased from the Friends.

Christmas cake raffle – the grid will be in the playground on Monday and it is £1 per square.

Jolly jars – please fill any spare jars with goodies for the Jolly Jar Raffle.  Homemade jams and relishes.  Sweets and chocolates.  Crafts.  Stocking fillers.

Chard School branded goodies – bags can be pre-ordered (£6 each, £10 for two).  Tea towels (£5 each, £10 for three) and trolley tokens (£1 each) will also be on sale on the day.

Santa’s helpers – as always, we will need many hands on deck on the day so if you are able and willing, please let the Friends know!

Thank you.

Holyrood Cross Country:  There were over 260 children (9 schools) competing in the cross country at Holyrood on Tuesday.  We did exceptionally well – a big thank you to Miss Taswell and congratulations to the children who took part.

Under 9 boys – 1st; Under 9 girls – 2nd; Under 11 boys – 4th; Under 11 girls – 2nd

Stockland Cross Country:  Once again, the children ran a tricky, muddy course showing real determination.  Thank you to all the parents who came to support and well done to the children!

Coldharbour Mill:  Upper and Lower Cerdic children now know just what it might have been like to work in a Victorian woollen mill.  We had an excellent day and I was very proud of the way the children behaved throughout the visit.

Music Assembly:  It was wonderful to see so many young children perform with their teacher, Mr Pearson, at our Assembly on Wednesday.  We heard recorder, piano and voice across a wide age range.  Well done.
