Lift off for rocket seed experiment

Lift off for rocket seed experiment

IMG_7120[1]

This week, Years 1-6 gathered outside the Science Lab to plant rocket seeds as part of a nationwide research project with astronaut Tim Peake to see how gravity affects seeds. In September, 2kg of rocket seeds were flown to the International Space Station on Soyuz 44S where they spent several months in microgravity before returning to Earth in March 2016. The ‘space’ seeds were planted alongside seeds that haven’t been to space and will be monitored over the coming weeks. Pupils won’t know which were which until all results have been collected and analysed… so which will grow better? We will have to wait and see!
