‘Fairy Tale’ Fun Day

Pre-Prep children had a fantastic start to the new half term as they enjoyed a day of activities on the theme of their new topic ‘Fairy Tales’. In the morning, the younger children helped to build a castle role play area by making stained glass windows and torches whilst Monmouth made character castles and wanted posters of famous ‘baddies’ they have read about. The day was rounded off with a Pre-Prep picnic in Monmouth where the children were treated to a selection of fairy tale themed foods, such as fruit wands, beanstalk beans, crown and heart shaped sandwiches, raspberry toadstools, gingerbread men and pumpkin oranges! Sounds great fun!

Fire Safety Workshop

Yeovil Fire Service visited the school on Friday and gave interesting talks to both Monmouth and Lower Cerdic classes on the subject of Fire Safety. The children enjoyed spotting fire hazards, plotting escape routes and doing the ‘Stop, Rock & Roll’. Even Mr Lucas had to join in the roll, to ensure he had put his clothes out! Lower Cerdic are now preparing an assembly for the whole school, based on what they have learnt. Many thanks to Yeovil Fire Service for their very informative workshop.

Spinning Club is also popular, the children are really enjoying learning this traditional craft. In Cerdic Craft Club the children have been making cards and are designing and sewing fabric glasses cases. Well done everyone!
