Governors

Sue Kirby (Chair)

After starting her career in the Army, Sue has spent over 20 years in education, with experience from prep schools to university. She was the Head of an independent girls’ boarding school and since her retirement has been Chair of Governors of 4 schools.

Sylvie Dare FCMI

Sylvie was for 19 years Chief Executive of South West Productivity, a member based Charity devoted to training, enterprise and business development. She has also run her own successful business in the Care Sector. She has held a number of non-executive directorships in UK and held a Company Secretary role whilst living in Zambia.  She was a Governor at the Park School for several years and in the Chair from 2006 to 2010.  She currently sits on a Prince’s Trust Business Group Panel and is Chief Finance Officer for Dare Studio Ltd.

Mick Capps

Mick has lived in Chard for eleven years, coming down from West Yorkshire where he was Director of School of Engineering and Manufacturing at Leeds College of Technology. During this time he was involved in the organisation and development of National and World skills competitions. He was seconded to manage a national programme to improve measurement across all areas of manufacturing and created the first manufacturing metrology centre in Leeds and assisted with the creation of a similar centre in the West Midlands. He has been a school Governor at Primary and Senior school levels.

Edward Colgan

Edward is currently Chief Executive of Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and has over 20 years’ Board level experience in the NHS.  He is also Chair of the Board of the NHS South West Leadership Academy which is responsible for the professional and personal leadership development of staff working across the NHS in the South West.  At previous points in his career he has been a Non-Executive Director of Dorset Connexions and Somerset Connexions providing a range of educational and careers advice and other services to young people.
